Enhancing a Knowledge-Based Education Course
The eCHECKUP TO GO programmes are designed to function independently as stand-alone interventions, and they have been thoughtfully integrated with other knowledge-based courses and skills-based curricula to strengthen outcomes.
Should your institution want to offer individuals a complete, knowledge-based alcohol education course, we recommend you consider 3rd Millennium Classrooms on-line courses.
Our research and development collaboration with 3rd Millennium Classrooms, now in its 6th year, led us to integrate 3rd Millennium Classrooms’ thorough knowledge-based curricula and college course format with the eCHECKUP TO GO’ brief personalised interventions.
3rd Millennium Classrooms' on-line courses are fully integrated with the eCHECKUP TO GO interventions and are designed to be used at the population-level (Alcohol Wise) or as a part of a judicial process (Under the Influence & Marijuana 101).
Data from controlled studies examining the efficacy of combining the eCHECKUP TO GO with the Third Millennium Classrooms alcohol curriculum are quite encouraging (Lane and Schmidt, 2007, Salafsky, Moll and Glider, 2007). The outcomes suggest that combining these approaches can lead to significantly higher retention levels and significantly higher GPA's for students who complete the integrated programme.
Skills-Based Programmes
Many clinicians and interventionists use an eCHECKUP TO GO programme to strengthen and support their individual and group counselling work. For example, our programmes have been successfully integrated into both the BASICS and CHOICES approaches.
For clinicians and interventionists wanting to explore the addition of a skills based programme we suggest you review the BASICS programme.
