...at the Population Level
Many campuses use the eCHECKUP TO GO as a prevention programme required for all entering freshmen. the University of Limerick, University of Florida, Clemson, the University of Kansas, Oberlin College, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Northeastern, the University of Arizona, Michigan State University, the University of Illinois-Chicago, Georgia Southern University and the University of California San Diego are among the campuses requiring students to complete an eCHECKUP TO GO.
The programmes are offered in First Year Experience Programmes, as a part of a Residential Education Programme and to high-risk groups such as Athletes and Greek Communities. For example, the Sigma Chi National Organization uses the eCHECKUP TO GO with its members in all 217 chapters in North America.
...in Classrooms & With Other Educational Programmes
Of particular note, research shows that when the eCHECKUP TO GO is added to existing knowledge-based educational programmes, it significantly improves the effectiveness of these educational approaches (Wilson, Henry & Lange 2005).
Both programmes are also used with students who are self-referred due to concerns about their alcohol/drug use, students mandated to see a health provider for an assessment/intervention as well as at the population-level for all students.
...for Individual and Group Counselling
The 'Motivational Interviewing' theory and style embedded in the eCHECKUP TO GO programmes and personalised reports lend themselves well to deeper one-on-one counselling follow-up conversations. They are frequently used as a part of a BASICS protocol in individual and group settings.
