Best Practices

Maryland Collaborative Guide

Keeping up with best practices for issues related to Alcohol, Cannabis, Sexual Violence Prevention, Nicotine, and other substances can be daunting. The eCHECKUP TO GO team is continuously evaluating best practices and offers these tools to support your use and integration of the eCHECKUP TO GO programs.

For the most recent, thorough and practical guide to the best practices for reducing alcohol use and related negative consequences on college campuses, we recommend the work of the Maryland Collaborative. Their "Guide" includes a detailed description of various strategies, a summary of the research supporting or refuting their effectiveness, and tips for implementation.

The Guide includes the eCHECKUP TO GO as one of 5 individual strategies supported by evidence-based outcomes research, that campuses might consider utilizing. The other best practice strategies included are BASICS, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Challenging Expectations.
